Topostcards - a topo-dialogue (2010-2011, Alex Nelu & Serioja Bocsok)
The work is presented as a series of 140 photos taken during trips in our home counties (Arges & Vrancea*) on a simple-themed “tumblr” blog. Our main intention was to trace random similarities or differences between two regions of Romania by exposing images one by one, like an open visual dialogue. The idea of a dialogue sometimes led to short challenges between us, posting images as answers or related to the previously uploaded image or trying to change the course by referencing new topics. Etymologically, topostcards is topos (the greek word for space), showing our tendency towards local landscape in photography, and postcard, referring to the documentary side of our archive.
