Power / Muntenia Postmodern Urbanism (2011-2012 / BA Final Project)

Power was an extended study of a specific area of my hometown aiming to reveal odd features of the post-communist landscape.

Influenced by Robert Venturi’s approach in Learning from Las Vegas, the research became less objective and more biased, by pleading for the taste and values of the inhabitants that unintentionally shape the landscape. The (partial) thermic insulations that the flat owners were building by themselves on their facades and the chaotic development of the network cable infrastructure are some of the stand-out elements of the urban scenes in many areas of the city.

The project involved rephotographing the same area for more than a year and was self-published in a unique artist-book.
